Honoring Jeanette & the Main Point

Okay folks!
As you may already know, one of our first objectives in establishing a website for the Main Point, was to acknowledge and honor the tremendous contributions made to the music community by Jeanette Campbell!
The time has come to begin gathering funds to honor Jeanette Campbell and to remember the Main Point…
What we are planning – and would like to accomplish in the very near future – is to have Jeanette and the Main Point to be recognized properly and to take their rightful place on the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame down on Broad Street! We have already had some discussions with the good folks down there & they are very receptive to the idea! Additionally, we’d like to get one of those blue signs outside the site of the original Main Point in Bryn Mawr that shows to logo and gives a brief account of some of the artists that played there back in the day…
Of course, all of this costs money and we’re hoping that each one of you will step up and make a donation – in whatever amount you’d like to give – to get each of these projects done as quickly as possible. You can use the PayPal link located here to make your donation… Please note that 100% of your donation will go towards paying for these two markers! We’ll plan on doing the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame one first, and then tackle the sign outside the Bryn Mawr location… Time is short on this as we would like Mrs. Campbell’s plaque to be installed at the Philadelphia Music Alliance’s next ceremony slated for late Spring, 2011.
It will be a great way to honor Mrs. Campbell, and to remind everyone of her role with the Main Point. Mrs. Campbell was the glue that held the Main Point together – For far longer than anyone thought was possible. Her tireless efforts and dedication to the ideals of the Main Point are still remembered fondly today by many of the artists that performed at the club. This is gonna be a very cool way to thank her for all of her hard work!

BTW – Credit for Mrs. Campbell’s photo here goes to CBonnet who worked at the Main Point for about 12 years… She took this picture of Jeanette in 1999 while visiting her in Maryland. It’s a great shot that really captures the joy Mrs. Campbell had inside her each & every day!
