Tom Waits – Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

“I wish (my Mom) was alive to hear the news. She didn’t respond to rock and roll per se, but she would have loved to have a reason to get all dolled up… And the idea of having a Waldorf salad at the Waldorf Astoria, would for her have been the cat’s pajamas. Actually, my mom made a pretty mean Waldorf herself…” said Main Point legend Tom Waits who will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by (can you top this?!?) Neil Young!

Waits joins other Main Point stalwarts such as Jackson Browne (2004), Bonnie Raitt (2000), James Taylor (2000),  Joni Mitchell (1997), Billy Joel (1999), and of course, Bruce Springsteen (1999).

Here’s what our good friends at Paste Magazine said about the Waits induction:

“It’s true… and it’s one of the combinations in particular that will make the show worth watching. Musical madman Tom Waits, Paste‘s #3 Best Living Songwriter, will be inducted into the Hall by none other than Paste’s #2 Best Living Songwriter, Neil Young.  Now, if only Bob Dylan (#1) would show up, we could go ahead and round out the top three.”

Watch the ceremony which will be broadcast exclusively on Fuse TV on March 20 at 9:00 p.m. and stay tuned for the grand finale when all the inductees and presenters crowd the stage for the finale… It should remind you of the old days when the performers all came back on stage in Bryn Mawr in resonse to the “Main Point Stomp”… Good times indeed!
