I’m 19, and from the Harrisburg area. I play at the Bryn Mawr Milkboy alot. The last couple times I’ve played there i’ve had people tell that I would’ve loved playing The Main Point, and that it used to be down the street. So I finally looked it up, and I feel like I now know why I’ve been drawn there. ALL of my musical heroes from the 70s played there. Is the building still there??
Hi Emily – The building which housed the Main Point is still standing in the heart of Bryn Mawr! It’s a comic book store now called Showcase Comics… Just down the street a few blocks from Milkboy; across the street from the fire department. The doorway still has the iconic ‘triangle’ above it that used to holf the Main Point logo sign, & we hear that some of the stuff that was on the walls at the old place can still be seen in there to this day… Check it out the next time you’re in the area… Thanks for reaching out to us!
Wow! My then-boyfriend and I were regulars. We were there for Janis Ian, Livingston and Kate Taylor, Doc Watson and Cheech and Chong, among many others. There was a great duo, Patcheko (sic) and Alexander who had such potential; I wonder what became of them. I have many incredible memories of this great place.
